Standardize phase is the fourth phase in the 5S, in which the best practices in a work place are found out or created and this best practices is treated as a standard. And this standard is implemented and maintained across the organisation, in a such a way that the standard has become a habit of the employee of the organisation.

Scope of best practices

Scope of best practices include all items and activities using these items in a work place. For example, best practices shall include how to store a particular item, how to label the position of a particular item, colour code, how to use tools or equipment for doing a particular job, etc.

How to implement standardize phase?

1. Create or found out best practices in the work place
2. Make that best practice a standard
3. Implement the standard across the organisation

The members of committee shall discuss the kaizens generated in their own department before the committee and select the best pactices.
3. This committee shall also be responsible for implementing this best practices as standard across the organisation.

These steps will be enough for implementing standardize phase.
