Manpower or Headcount calculation basics.

Input to the calculation are the following.

  1. For which process we should calculate the manpower
  2. Standard time of the process.
  3. Scheduled production time or shift timing
  4. Demand of the product for a particular time period.
  5. How much time or days we should do the process to meet the demand

With these inputs we calculate manpower or headcount required using a formula.

Standard time is the output of Time Study. So to arrive standard time, you should know how to do time study. So, study the article on time study and come back.

Now, how much time or days we should do the process, basically depends on the demand of the product or service.

  1. Demand of product or service per day
  2. First Process standard time (in man-minutes) for which manpower or headcount is to be calculated
  3. Second Process standard time (in man-minutes) for which manpower or headcount is to be calculated
  4. Third Process standard time (in man-minutes) for which manpower or headcount is to be calculated
  5. No of shifts per day
  6. Working time per employee per shift in minutes
  7. Efficiency of the process (%)

That’s all needed.
